Two young boys in the Philippines were recently arrested after allegedly robbing the grave of 84-year old deceased grandmother, Isabel Bastatas, who had been buried at the Digos City Cemetary only a few days prior.
Digos city is the capital of the province of Davao del Sur, Philippines.
The two delinquents were only caught because the family of the Bastatas, traveled to the cemetery for a visit of the grave and to bring flowers, per local custom.
The family found the tomb had been damaged, and Grandma Bastatas was outside of the coffin, not wearing underpants, with her “vagina clearly visible”.
However, more reports from the scene indicated that the coffin was open, and the legs of the deceased were “poking out of the white coffin” and her legs “were crossed”. Placing the legs in this position tends to indicate the boys were rolling the body side-to-side to look for valuables below the body, confirming the “robbing the grave story”.
Although it isn’t clear how the family knew, they stated that when they saw the body, they also “saw signs of sexual intercourse”. The relatives must be better experts than the police, as the police were unable to confirm that any sexual abuse occurred. They later admitted that the reason they believed she had been raped was because her panties were missing from her body.
The police area also considering this to be an incident of robbing the grave, as the boys might have suspected that valuables might have been buried with the deceased (also a local custom).
Allegedly unidentified “witnesses” came forward and identified the boys in question. The two boys “fingered” by the witness initially admitted that they had abused the corpse.
However, as more people got involved and was talking with them, they recanted, and stated they were forced by police officers to confess to the charges against them. Both were charged with abuse of a corpse, which includes digging up a grave. They were turned over to Department of Social Welfare (DSWD) because of their age. The parents of the deceased intend to pursue actions against the boy’s parents.

They make things look so glamorous and dreamy on the big screen, but as most of us know: having a healthy sex life takes work, dedication, and even then, one can encounter an emotional roadblock.
